Visitors

Visitors can be both welcome and unwelcome, as our three muses discover. Patience, Grace and Charity are three ladies who clearly know each other very well. They discuss all types of visitors: relatives and neighbours, historical and Biblical figures as well as others from literature and cinema.

The play is written in a fast-flowing, expressionistic style, heigtening the fun and pace of the play. Visitors is a challenging piece for three accomplished actresses and a skillful director. Ideal for festivals. Running time: 40 minutes.

Quotations on the Margin

Comedy

In a setting left to the director’s discretion, Duffy, a former actor is being questioned indirectly by the inquisitive and persistent Johnson. With echoes of Pinter, an atmosphere of mystery and menace hovers over this comedy, as Duffy displays his professional versatility. But who are these men? Where are they? And who is the third character, who appears momentarily to speak two words? The quotations should help.
I don’t think I’ve enjoyed reading a one-act as much as this in years.” Jeremy Lewis, Theatre Administrator, Riverside Theatre.
